India non-basmati Rice exports up 34% in Apr-Jan

Cơ quan chính phủ cho biết xuất khẩu gạo non-basmati của Ấn Độ trong giai đoạn từ tháng 4 - 1 đã tăng 34% so với năm ngoái lên 7,02 triệu tấn do Bangladesh, Benin và Sri Lanka đã gia tăng việc mua gạo.

Các quan chức cho biết việc đẩy mạnh xuất khẩu từ nước xuất khẩu gạo lớn nhất thế giới này bắt đầu phát triển khi Bangladesh và Sri Lanka tiếp tục mua gạo nhiều trong bối cảnh giảm hàng tồn kho ở nước xuất khẩu gạo lớn thứ 2 Thái Lan.

Nước sản xuất gạo truyền thống lớn thứ tư trên thế giới, Bangladesh trở thành nước nhập khẩu gạo lớn vào năm 2017 sau khi lũ lụt tàn phá mùa màng và đẩy giá nội địa lên cao.

Bangladesh chiếm hơn 80% lượng hàng nhập khẩu năm 2017 với 2,4 triệu tấn nhập khẩu từ Ấn Độ.

Sản lượng lúa gạo ở Ấn Độ dự kiến sẽ tăng lên mức kỷ lục 111,01 triệu tấn trong năm nay, cao hơn 1,2% so với sản lượng năm ngoái.

India's non-basmati Rice exports during April-January jumped 34 percent from a year earlier to 7.02 million tonnes as Bangladesh, Benin and Sri Lanka raised purchases, a government body said.

The boost in shipments from the world’s top exporter of the grain is set to extend as Bangladesh and Sri Lanka continue to buy aggressively amid depleting inventories in No.2 exporter Thailand, the officials said.

Traditionally the world’s fourth-biggest rice producer, Bangladesh emerged as a major importer of the grain in 2017 after floods damaged crops and pushed domestic prices to record highs.

Bangladesh sourced more than 80 per cent of its 2017 imports of 2.4 million tonnes from India.

Rice production in India is expected to climb to a record 111.01 million tonnes this crop year, 1.2% higher than last year’s output.
